PDA settings

1. To connect to Internet:

• Go to Start menu.
• Go to Settings section.
• Select Connections.
• Start command Connections.
• In submenu «My ISP» select «Add new modem connections» and press «Next».
• Enter connection name: any, for example, KS-GPRS.
• From the appeared list, select type of the modem (Select a modem). To use connection via IR-port select «Generic IrDA modem» and press «Next».
• Enter number for connection establishing:
  For GSM base technology: +380672222901.
  For GPRS technology: *99***1#.
• Press «Next».
• Fill in next fields:
  For GSM base technology:
  «User name»: internet;
  «Password»: kyivstar.
  For GPRS technology:
  «User Name»: igprs;
  «Password»: internet.
• Press button «Additional settings»:
• «General» section:
• Select «Baud rate»: 57 600;
• Cancel function «Wait for dial tone before dialing
  For GPRS technology in a field „Extra dial-string modem commands“ it is necessary to enter initializatio line:
  +CGDCONT=1, „IP“, „www.kyivstar.net“
  For GSM base technology leave empty field;
  Parameter „Cancel if not connected in“: it is possible to leave by default switched on 120 sec.
• Go to „Port settings“ and make next settings:
• „Data bits“: „8“;
• „Parity“: „No“
• „Stop bits“: „1“;
• „Flow control“: „Hardware“;
• everything else: „Off“.
• Go to section TCP/IP and select:
• Use server-assigned IP address»;
• «Use software compression»: «Switch off»;
• «Use header compression»: «Switch off».
• Go to «Servers» settings:
• choose «Use server-assigned IP address».
• Close section «Additional settings» by pressing button «ОК ».
• Press «Finish». Internet connection settings are completed.

2. Adjustment of the mail client:

• Go «Start» menu.
• Select «Inbox».
• Select «Accounts».
• Create a new account, by pressing button «New»:
• Enter e-mail address: user e-mail addresses (for example: ivanov@starport.com.ua).
• Press «Next».
• Wait until autoconfigurator will execute all actions.
• Press «Next».
• Fill in «Your name»: for example, Іvan. It is possible to specify any name.
• «User name»: it is necessary to specify a login for connection to a mail box (for example, ivanov).
• «Password»: it is necessary to specify password for connection to a mail box, after that your password will be displayed by symbols ***.
• It is possible to select «Save password» option and it will not be asked during each mail checking.
• Press «Next».
• Select Account type: POP3.
• Enter «Name» of incoming maul server — it is account name: you can choose any, for example: Starport.
• Press «Next» and fill nextfields:
  «Incoming mail»: data that are supplied by mail services provider (for example: mail.starport.com.ua).
  «Outgoing mail»: relay.kyivstar.net.
• «Domain» field leave empty.
• By pressing «Options», it is possible to make following settings:
• «Connect and check for messages every»: specify time interval for PDA to automatically connect to Internet for checking and loading new messages;
• «Connection»: it is possible to select connection network «Internet» or «Work»;
• «Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication»: it is selected in case of need;
• «Require SSL connection»: it is selected in case of protected connection need;
• «Only display messages from the last X days»: during mail check server will load message which have been received during the specified period;
• It is possible to select messages loading type or «Get message headers only» and to set for this type of header load size (Include:) or «Get full copy of messages».
• Having made these settings, press «Finish».
• Now you can connect mobile phone to pocket computer and work with your e-mail box. For this purpose activate mobile phone IR-port and place it opposite to PDA’s IR-port on distances from 10 centimeter to 1m.
